- 3 cups Flour all purpose
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1/3 cup Oil Corn, Vegetable, lard, or Olive Oil
- 3/4 - 1 cup Warm Water
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
-
Combine your 3 cups of flour, 1 tsp baking soda and 1 tbs of salt
-
Then add in your 1/3 cup oil/fat and mix
-
Slowly add in the hot water and keep mixing with your fork, until you have a ball and then use your hand and kneed the dough in your bowl for about 5 mins. Cover with a towel and let it rest for 20 mins.
-
Split your dough into little balls, should make about 13
-
One at a time you will dip in some flour and then roll out your dough into a disk tortilla like shape (don't worry about perfection they taste yummy either way!)
-
Add to a med/hot pan ( you can use a pancake pan if you don't have a Comal) and cook on one side for about 2 mins until you see bubbles come up consistently around and then flip and cook the other side.
-
That's it! You've MADE TORTILLAS! Yum! now go make some yummy fillings!
-
These can store in the fridge in a ziptop bag for a week (but they wont last that long ha ha) you can just reheat on the fire in a pan or directly on the fire to warm up.
